ZIM@40: YOUTH REFLECTIONS, FORWARD EVER AND BACKWARDS NEVER
By Farai Dustee Marapira My fellow youth of Zimbabwe, independence is an interesting tale of how our forebears, then youths themselves fought to bring equality to this nation. Most importantly the youth need to understand what this important date in our history mandates them to do. The youth need to carry the banner of ZANUPF, the banner that drives the only ideology that can see this country moving from glory to glory. No other ideology exists in Zimbabwe which can bring true emancipation to the sons and daughters of this soil. The youth need to rise and fulfil their mandate. Emancipatory ideologies propounded by revolutionary parties in Africa and ZANUPF in Zimbabwe in particular shall forever face the banner of war led by imperialist forces. Imperialists, like the mythical hydra have many heads and where one is cut, two emerge. Their tricks to try and subvert the children of Africa's destiny are myriad and only one steeped in the correct ideology can see through them. As youth, as the vanguard, it is our duty and life purpose to defend actively that which our fathers sacrificed for. It is our duty to actively take the revolution further by becoming owners of this land, making it produce crops, minerals and largesse. Only when we do that can we declare and make our land ‘the land of milk and honey and endless possibilities.” As the youth, on this 18th of April, let us attune ourselves to our duty- our mandate. Let us not be deceived by the wiles of the enemy, let's stand firm at the ramparts! We were given this country, to defend, to build and to consolidate the gains of freedom. It is forward ever and backwards never. In our houses let us celebrate our nation, let us embrace our history, let it define our today and give inspiration for tomorrow. Household by household.
