ZANU PF, in conjunction with the Ministry of Local Government, Harare City Council, and Environmental Management Agency EMA, has joined hands to ensure the maintenance of clean environs.
Speaking during the event, ZANU PF National Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha said that as the country heads towards the hosting of the 44th SADC Summit, it is imperative that a clean environment is maintained.
"His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has declared the every first Friday as the National Clean Up day, and as such, we must live up to this declaration. Zimbabwe will be hosting the 44th SADC Summit, and as the visitors come into the country, we must make sure that they come into a clean country. As Chitepo School of Ideology, we also want to make sure that our investment is kept in a clean place," Cde Machacha said.
Harare City Council representatives who included Councillors Theresa Thomas Women's quota PR and Ward 5 shadow Councillor Abdul Sapa expressed their commitment to upholding President's Mnangagwa's vision of a clean country.
Chief Director Human Resources in the Ministry of Local Government, Learnson Tagara said, "We were happy to be called here to participate in this event. As a Ministry, we have a programme called 'Call to Action' which mandates all Councils to have clean environs. With the SADC Summit being hosted this August, it is crucial that such programmes as Chenesa Harare are adhered to and that we must desist from making the environs dirty."
ZANU PF Party staff, City Council officials, Local Government, Building Contractors, and Consultants teamed up to clean the Chitepo School of Ideology offices and its surroundings located in the CBD.
