ZANU PF Secretary for Women’s Affairs, Cde Mabel Chinomona has emphasized the importance of safeguarding the country’s history.
Speaking during a Women’s League National Executive Committee meeting held at the Party’s headquarters in preparation for a visit to Chimoio shrines, Cde Chinomona highlighted the need for reverencing Zimbabwe’s gallant sons and daughters who fought for the freedom we enjoy today.
The Chimoio visit follows short on the heels of this year’s Heroes and Defence Forces Day held annually to remember the sacrifices by Zimbabwe’s sons and daughters.
“I would like to thank you all for your outstanding support for our President and First Secretary, His Excellency, Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. You heard him say during our last National Assembly that he sleeps peacefully when it comes to the Women’s League. He understood that women play a pivotal role in our country hence his unwavering support for us,” Cde Chinomona said.
“I would like to thank President Mnangagwa for allowing us to visit Chimoio so that we can go and reflect on the sacrifices made for our country. You are aware that we will be joined by the Children of War Veterans as well as female civil servants. This way we can be able to bring to posterity our rich history.”
Many of Zimbabwe’s gallant sons and daughters died at Tembwe and Doroi amongst other places.
