The First Lady welcomes returnees from South Africa

The First Lady of Zimbabwe, Her Excellency, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, this week visited the Beitbridge Reception and Support Centre, where she warmly welcomed fellow Zimbabweans returning home, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to ensuring that every citizen is received with dignity, compassion and hope.

During her visit, the First Lady engaged with returnees, listening to their experiences and offering words of encouragement as they embarked on a new chapter back home. She emphasised that every Zimbabwean deserves to be embraced with understanding and respect, regardless of the circumstances that led them away from home.

Speaking from the heart, Dr Mnangagwa said that, as a mother, she warmly embraces every returning Zimbabwean, noting that the interactions she had with the returnees served as a touching reminder that, despite life’s challenges and setbacks, unity and togetherness will always triumph.

She highlighted that home remains a place of love, opportunity and fresh beginnings, calling on all Zimbabweans to continue extending compassion to one another while upholding the enduring values of ubuntu, love and national unity. The First Lady urged communities across the country to ensure that no one is left behind as the nation continues to build an inclusive and caring society.

Dr Mnangagwa also expressed satisfaction with the measures put in place by the Government to facilitate the smooth reintegration of returning citizens, particularly those who have spent many years away from Zimbabwe. She said the support systems established at the Beitbridge Reception and Support Centre demonstrate the Government’s commitment to assisting returnees as they reconnect with their families, communities and economic opportunities.

The visit comes at a time when Zimbabwe continues to receive returning nationals through the Beitbridge Border Post, with Government institutions and partners working together to provide reception, support and reintegration services aimed at helping citizens successfully rebuild their lives back home.

The First Lady’s visit underscored the importance of national solidarity, reminding Zimbabweans that every citizen remains an integral part of the country’s future and that, through compassion, unity and collective support, the nation can overcome challenges and create opportunities for all.
