Harare Metropolitan Province Minister of State and Devolution’s Deputy Director Cde Ignatius Mungure says the church is the cornerstone of peace and unity tasked with the responsibility of uplifting our communities.
Speaking during a church gathering at Johane the 5th of Africa International Church in Harare yesterday, Cde Mungure said His Excellency, President Mnangagwa’s mantra emphasizes that each person has the responsibility of building Zimbabwe.
“Church leaders hold a crucial responsibility of guiding and uplifiting our communities. President Mnangagwa’s mantra nyika inovakwa nevene vayo emphasizes that our nation is built by its own people. Today we gather in the spirit of worship to pray for peace, unity and development in Zimbabwe an abundant land filled with resources that must benefit all our citizens,” Cde Mungure said.
“The government gave us land. The government also gave us stands in the urban areas. So we must be seen to be utilizing that peace of land for purposes that it has been designed for. We do not want land barons. We want people to build homes in the designated places. We do not want people who grow weeds. We want people to grow crops very well. Some have transformed their lives through these farms. This is what the President is talking about. You and I have a role to play. Together we have the duty to ensure that every Zimbabwean experiences peace and unity. Our church is different from other churches. It preaches a gospel of peace and telling the citizens who to vote for. This is so that there is peace and no civil unrest.”
Cde Mungure commended the J5 church Founder Archbishop Dr Andby Makururu for fostering unity, peace and development as well as fighting for the rights of women and children.
