PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA COMMENDS CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
President E. D Mnangagwa has commended Saint Gobain Construction Products Zimbabwe for its corporate social responsibility which he said will go a long way in empowering young people.
Speaking during a tour of the factory in Harare yesterday, President Mnangagwa urged other companies to follow in the footsteps of the construction giant.
"I would like to take this opportunity to urge other companies to take a lead from the Saint Gobain's work with international investment partners to access foreign capital, appropriate technology, and skills," he said.
"Government appreciates empowerment and social responsibility initiatives which Saint Gobain is undertaking. The training is youths for broad based empowerment is most welcome and will ensure development that leaves no one behind.
"I note your interventions at Danhiko Secondary School, Msasa Vocational Training, Kushinga Phikelela and Belvedere Technical Colleges. I urge you to create most partnerships with Institutions of Higher Learning through our Innovation Hubs and Industrial Parks for skills transfer and new product development."
The President reiterated his administration's commitment to the growth of the country.
"My administration remains committed to facilitate increased production, productivity and profitability of our entities across all sectors of the economy. Hence, our doors are open to dialogue with the private sector," he said.
"Every company is important to our economy, I am heartened by the invitations extended to me by companies across the economy, as this gives my delegation and I, first hand insights into the work being undertaken and the challenges faced by industry."
He added that the" "associated exposure is invaluable and leaves us in Government, better informed to make responsive and robust policies which facilitate private sector led economic development and growth."
