The Party cannot afford to be preoccupied with sideshows and negative noises meant to cause despondency among our membership."The Party should remain united and disciplined, with us members of the Politburo leading by example. Let us never allow personal interests and ambitions to rise to levels which threaten the collective good of the Party. Our energies should be focused towards Party building, harmony and unity, as well as increased economic productivity”.The President said members must desist from discussing Party issues in the private media as this causes divisions. He said both Party and Government must step up efforts to publicise successes of the 2nd Republic to counter the negative narrative of detractors.“It is however, greatly disheartening that the voice of the Party and Government remains inaudible when it comes to defending Party and Government policies and programmes."This is against the present, unrelenting onslaught against us by our detractors. I yet again challenge the Party membership and Government functionaries to speak up, act and occupy the space”. Modalities are being worked to roll out the mealie-meal coupon system. I call upon all stakeholders to shun corruption in the distribution and sale of mealie-meal and other essential commodities Furthermore, we appeal to manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers to desist from wantonly increasing prices of basic commodities. Rest assured the Government is doing all that is possible to stabilise the macro-economic fundamentals”.The President said the country was prepared to deal with any cases of the Coronavirus and urged Government departments to minimise unnecessary travel outside the continent.
