President Mnangagwa has said the Second Republic recognises that infrastructure is a base for economic development therefore the Second Republic is advancing the transformation of the country infrastructure.
Commissioning the Trababalas Interchange today in Harare,President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said adequate infrastructure is key for the realisation of Vision 2030 hence it was singled out as one of the critical enablers for economic growth.
“As we are all aware ,the availability of appropriate and adequate infrastructure is key for the realisation of Vision 2030.Presently ,our national development priorities are mindful of the growing population, urbanization as well as the increased demand for quality services.
“In this regard ,transport infrastructure was singled out as one of the critical enablers for economic growth,development,industrialisationand modernization is also central to the ,accessibility of goods and key services ,leading to an overall improvement in the quality of life for the citizenry, "said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also reiterated that the growth of the economy and increased performance of all sectors is centered on road infrastructure.
The Trabablas Interchange connects three major roads which include Simon Mazorodze ,High Glen and Chitungwiza .The project further involve the construction of 15 major bridge structures .
The Head of State and Government also commended the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure development as well as the local people who worked tirelessly for the smooth completion of the project.
President Mnangagwa also added that the project will go a long way in advancing both regional and continental integration.
“Let us continue to build our country Zimbabwe brick by brick, stone by stone. Our unique geographic connection as Zimbabwe will facilitate the movement of goods, people and services in the SADC region. Zimbabwe is so central in SADC and it is producing a road corridor approach. My government will reduce transit times.
“The construction of the Beitbridge and Chirundu roads will modernise the road infrastructure. As we commission this interchange let us remember that infrastructure is as good as we maintain it.Drive responsibly and protect all our vital infrastructure from vandalism so that it serves our people,”said President Mnangagwa.
