ZANU PF Director for Research, Strategy and Liason Dr Davison Gomo has challenged the Women Crossborder Traders for Economic Development to position themselves in nation building.
Speaking at the Organisation's meeting held in Bulawayo at the UCCSA hall in Njube this Saturday, Dr Gomo said the women must be mindful of the Government policies that empower them.
"As an organization, you must be mindful of the Government policies and programmes that ensure the uplifting of your livelihoods. The Second Republic, under the leadership of His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has put in place measures to eradicate poverty, and we all need to work towards vision 2030. Find ways in which you can position your organization towards the advancement of this vision."
Dr Gomo urged the affiliate to ensure that its members are registered within the ZANU PF structures as this gives them constitutional recognition.
Also speaking during the event Women Crossborder Traders for Economic Development National Chairperson Cde Susan Mashiri said " We are happy with the work that Bulawayo Province has done. Let us continue to work hard towards the attainment of our President, His Excellency Cde E.D Mnangagwa's vision of an upper middle-income society by 2030."
Minister of Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Cde Judith Ncube whose speech was read by Cde Munyaka, Director in her office highlighted that it is imperative to support women who make the bulk of the Crossborder Traders in the SADC region.
"Over 70 percent of cross border traders are women. It is therefore clear that women in crossborder trade address vital issues of livelihoods, especially food and income security," she said.
"It is important that as an organization you fight for the recognition in the socio-economic and political spaces and thrive to equip women cross border traders with knowledge on business management and financial literacy so that they are able to conduct profitable businesses."
