Miners for Economic Development has officially expressed its strong support for Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 of 2026, describing it as a landmark piece of legislation that will strengthen Zimbabwe’s economic foundation and advance empowerment for communities contributing to the nation’s growth.
At a well-attended engagement meeting held in Mazowe, 2,561 miners participated in discussions led by the district leadership under the Miners For Economic Development banner. The meeting focused on unpacking the provisions of the proposed amendment and its potential to positively impact the mining sector and the broader economy.
Speaking at the gathering, Cde Rutavi Knowledge, the National Treasurer for Miners for Economic Development, commended the unity shown by miners in Mazowe, saying:“Our support for Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 of 2026 is rooted in our desire to see a responsive and progressive governance framework that promotes productivity and economic inclusion. As miners, we understand that the amendment will create an environment where every contributor to the national economy can thrive fairly and transparently.”
Adding his voice, Cde Lawrence Mushura, the Mashonaland Central Chairman of Miners for Economic Development, praised the overwhelming turnout, noting:
“What we witnessed today is a clear demonstration that miners are informed, patriotic, and ready to participate in shaping our country’s economic direction. Mazowe miners have spoken, and their message is consistent,development must be anchored in constitutional reform that reflects the realities of our industries and communities.”
Cde Dru Edmund Kucherera, the National Vice Chairman and Spokesperson for Miners For Economic Development, outlined the broader purpose of the engagements:“This meeting in Mazowe is part of a nationwide initiative within Miners for Economic Development structures. Similar engagements are happening across all provinces as we educate, mobilize, and ensure that every miner understands the significance of Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 of 2026. Our goal is to build an informed membership that fully supports the vision of national transformation.”
The Mazowe engagement marked another milestone in Miners For Economic Development’s ongoing efforts to align the mining community with national development objectives. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to advancing inclusive growth and ensuring that the voices of miners are heard and respected in shaping Zimbabwe’s constitutional and economic landscape.
