ZANU PF Secretary for Production and Labour Cde Josiah Hungwe has challenged various trade unions across the country to work in unity in order to develop Zimbabwe. This he said at a meeting with various trade unions in a move aimed at improving the living standards of the worker and finding a Trade Unions Strategic Engagement Framework. “Our President Cde E.D Mnangagwa wants unity, unity, unity and production, production, production in order to alleviate the lives of the people of Zimbabwe. You are part and parcel of this process and must rally your members to work towards the development of Zimbabwe. Let us begin thinking of setting up processing plants for canning tomatoes so that our people’s produce does rot along the way to vegetable markets such as Mbare.” Also speaking during the event, ZANU PF Director Administration Cde Dickson Dzora challenged the trade unions to use their workforce to building Zimbabwe. He lamented the collusion between the employer and worker which is evident nowadays. "We have never known that an employer can collude with an employee to go into stayaways and demonstrations as we have seen nowadays. Where then does the employer get the money to pay the worker if production is what gives output. We have seen as ZANU PF that we have arrived at cross purposes,” Cde Dzora said. “As ZANU PF our motto is unity, peace and development because we understand that we are our own liberators. With the New Dispensation, we are enabling workers to bargain for better working conditions and better salaries.  Our vision of an upper middle class status needs a collective effort from all of us including you as trade unions. It is you that have the workflow and the human resources base and you must understand that this is being done for ourselves.” Cde Dzora reiterated that ZANU PF will not be stopped “ZANU PF will never look back and be distracted by these machinations. We will never be distracted to work to improve the lives of our people. This is why you here President E. D Mnangagwa talking about production, production and production. Our priorities must therefore be refocused and put our resources to the growth of Zimbabwe."
