Liberation Movements (LMs) this morning met FRELIMO's Presidential Candidate Cde Daniel Chapo ahead of tomorrow's day of voting.
The LMs who are ZANU PF, ANC, MPLA and CCM expressed their solidarity with FRELIMO, adding that going forward, the region needed to be more united.
Speaking during the meeting, Cde Chapo expressed his pleasure at the support given to FRELIMO.
"Thank you for your presence in this campaign. We are gathered here as revolutionary Parties. Even before our campaign started, we decided to meet all sister parties CCM, MPLA, ZANU PF, SWAPO, and ANC because we are one people. These borders are defined by westerners which is why you find same names in our countries," Cde Chapo said.
"I was lucky enough to meet all the Heada of State in all the countries and they gave me a strong message that we are all brothers and must continue being united. They told me we have a school in Tanzania to train our brothers. I am therefore honoured to have our brothers here to observe the elections.
"Our elections always occur at the same time. Our brothers in ZANU PF have already had their elections, the ANC and there are upcoming elections in Namibia and Tanzania.
"We had our Municipal elections last year and that helped us to see what was happening. Our challenges are common in the entire region. Those who fight the Liberation Movements are the same and do so, in order to continue to exploit our resources. We therefore need to be more united to face our adversaries."
Cde Chapo added that the peaceful election campaign shows that the elections will run smoothly.
"We want just, free and transparent elections. It is our role as brothers to defend one another and to defend good governance. We as a Party have continued to show strength because this has been a people’s campaign and it's a People’s Party," he said.
