President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce( ZNCC) to take a leading role in ensuring increased productivity, exports and investment promotion to realise the attainment of an upper middle income economy by 2030.Giving his keynote address at the ZNCC Business Review Conference in the capital, President Mnangagwa said captains of industry must drive the increased productivity agenda in line with the country’s vision.“As ZNCC, you must drive the increased productivity agenda, through clear foresight and the appropriate appreciation of the vision of our country.“It would be most unfortunate if the Chamber fails to harness the vast opportunities in our country. The focus and discourse should be around what is possible.” said President Mnangagwa.President Mnangagwa also urged all participating stakeholders to work hard and fully commit in the building of the country’s economy.“We all must work hard and commit to become an Upper Middle Class economy by 2030.Once again the national agenda requires collaborative efforts from all stakeholders, partners and you the business sector in particular.“You remain an integral party in our reform efforts as we pursue private sector-lead economic growth and development.“The raft reform measures, we as government are implementing are aimed at increasing the viability and competitiveness of your business across all sectors.“This calls for positive response of equal measure from you in business," said President Mnangagwa.President Mnangagwa also emphasized on the need to promote dialogue to provide a conducive and even playground that is investor friendly.“My Government under the Second Republic has made dialogue key tenets of this new administration. Hence, I encourage you all to remain engaged in positive, honest and constructive dialogue for mutual beneficial impacts.“Let me reiterate the call I made at the Exporters Conference held in Bulawayo earlier this Quarter, for the need to increase production and productivity across all sectors.“Equally businesses should aim to produce a minimum of 20% of their goods for the export market and 80%for the local market.“To achieve this, it is integral that all sectors increase inter-organisational liaison and collaboration in particular ZimTrade, for export production” said President Mnangagwa.Finance and Economic Development Minister who one of the key presenters at the Conference also echoed the same sentiments with President Mnangagwa that austerity measures are now water under the bridge and government is now working towards productivity.The Business Review Conference ran under the theme Expanding Horizons: Dynamic Solutions for economic turnaround.The Business Review3 Conference was also attended by the delegation from Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce who appreciated the economic turnaround steps currently administered under the Second Republic.Several government Ministers also attended the event.
