The Secretary General of the ruling Party, ZANU PF, Cde Obert Mpofu says the revolutionary Party is opposed to the demolitions which have been witnessed recently.
This follows a series of demolitions done recently which have left many homeless whilst others have also been dubbed of hard earned financial resources.
This exacerbated by the huge housing backlog, many home seekers have resorted to building in undesignated areas in order to own a place they can call their own and stop spending money on rentals.
Unscrupulous land barons have also taken advantage of the homeseekers through double allocations and parcelling out land meant for social amenities.
Speaking during the Policy and Coordinating meeting, Cde Mpofu expressed the Party’s displeasure at the actions.
"The ZANU PF Government led by His Excellency, President Cde Dr E.D Mnangagwa has reaffirmed that it remains opposed to the demolition of people's homes and will continue regularising informal settlements with over 1.5 million homeowners set to receive title deeds under rge Kwangu/Ngakwami Presidential Title Deeds Programme," Cde Mpofu said.
"This comes after fears that had been raised in recent weeks that authorities were planning to demolish houses and settlements, especially in peri-urban areas. This is testament to the fact that the ZANU PF Government led by His Excellency, President Cde Dr E.D Mnangagwa has a human face and will always work to ensure that the needs of its people are met."
