ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa says His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa has put centre stage attraction of world-class capital to Zimbabwe.
Speaking in an interview, Ambassador Mutsvangwa said this move will Zimbabwe into the top 20 steel producing economy in the world.
"The President of the Republic has put center stage attraction of world-class capital to Zimbabwe so that Zimbabwe can produce world-class goods made in Zimbabwe for the global market. This is in line with his mantra, "Zimbabwe is Open for Business." He is harnessing the best possible minds of the African continent in terms of the human resources index, which is rated by UNESCO as being the highest on the continent," he said.
"He is now harnessing those minds so that they can embrace capital, work together with capital and in the shortest period produce goods and services and make returns, profits to the invested capital.
"This has seen very competent entrepreneurs from all over the world come to Zimbabwe because they are assured of the good leadership of the President, pro-business policies on his part. Secondly, they are assured of a very rewarding resource base in terms of both mining and agriculture but also extends to tourism. Thirdly, they are confident of the capacity of Zimbabwe's labour force, which is organized and structured in such a manner that it can turn capital into profits in the shortest possible time.
"This is a recipe which is driving Zimbabwe's development agenda into the minds of world-class entrepreneurs, and they are beginning to focus on Zimbabwe in a way that Africa has never seen. It is astounding that the fortune 500 companies like Tsingshan have come to Zimbabwe and in a very short period of three years since the advent of the Second Republic has now set up a steel plant which is going to be opened up in the next month or two. A world-class steel plant which is starting with 600 000 tonnes of carbon steel, stainless steel for the construction industry. Tsingshan is aiming to expand this production within the shortest period of time to five million tonnes, which will volt Zimbabwe into the top 20 steel producers in the whole world."
