Zim has a vibrant ICT sector : UN

 Shadreck Gurenje in Victoria Falls - ZANU PF Information DepartmentZimbabwe has a vibrant ICT sector that needs support and encouragement for the growth of the nation economically, a senior United Nations Economic expert has said.Speaking to the media soon after a closed door meeting with Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Professor Paul Mavhima and minister of Higher Education, Science, Innovation and Technology Development, Prof Amon Murwira, UN Executive Secretary on Economic Commission for Africa, Dr Songwe Vera said Zimbabwe had great technological potential and that more emphasis must be put on supporting the youths and women on innovation."As United Nations Economic for Africa we are happy that one of our biggest events is being hosted by the government of Zimbabwe."We would like to make sure that no African is left behind in terms of development and make sure that there is prosperity and of course prosperity means that we have to create jobs for youths and women."Zimbabwe has a vibrant ICT techonogical sector which is one of the best in Africa and it can create jobs," said Dr Songwe Vera.Zimbabwe is hosting the United Nations Economic forum for Sustainable development goals running under the theme 2020 - 2030: A decade to deliver a transformed and prosperous Africa through the 2030 agenda and agenda 2063.Dr Vera also commended some Zimbabwe innovation hubs she toured yesterday(Saturday ) and saluted the government of Zimbabwe for such innovative initiatives.
