THE ZANU PF Politburo at its 336th ordinary session, unanimously agreed to relieve the secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Pupurai Togarepi, his deputy Cde Lewis Matutu and Youth league national Political Commissar Cde Godfrey Tsenengamu of their positions with immediate effect.According to ZANU PF secretary for Finance Cde Patrick Chinamasa, national Secretary for Administration in the youth league Cde Tendai Chirau is now the acting Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs.Cde Chinamasa said the decision of the Politburo to replace the trio was a result of their persistent disregard for laid down party procedures in airing their grievances. “The Politburo discussed at length the Press briefing by Cdes Matutu and Tsenengamu purportedly in their personal and individual capacities. Their behaviour was alien to the modus operandi of the Party and its way of doing business. Previously it happened and the Politburo gave a directive that in future such issues be brought to the attention of the Politburo of which both Cdes Matutu and Togarepi are members”.Cde Togarepi remains a Central Committee member while the duo of cdes Matutu and Tsenengamu will serve a 12 month suspension and are required to attend a compulsory  three month basic orientation course at the Chitepo School of Ideology.This week, the duo of Cdes Matutu and Tsenengamu addressed a press conference at which they accused a number of businesspeople of engaging in corrupt activities.Cde Chinamasa said while the Party was strongly against corruption those who had evidence of corrupt activities should present it to the responsible authorities for further investigation.He said the Youth leadership had previously accused other individuals of corruption but had failed to provide evidence to substantiate their pronouncements.“Let me say the Party does not condone corruption and has set up the necessary structures at both Government and Party level to curb the vice. Those with evidence should approach ZACC and the police with the evidence. The youth leadership made previous allegations which they failed to substantiate and the Politburo felt the flouting of its previous directive was a sign of indiscipline and sanctioning.”   Meanwhile the Politburo has directed that the 40th Independence main celebrations be held in Bulawayo as part of efforts by the 2nd Republic to devolve activities.
