THE governing ZANU PF Party has joined the fight against Covid-19 pandemic with the launch of an awareness campaign which drew participants from the Party National, Provincial and Government leadership.ZANU PF National Chairman, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri said the campaign was intended to equip Party members with correct information on the pandemic thereby supporting efforts by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to combat Covid-19.As part of efforts to combat the pandemic, President Mnangagwa declared a State of Disaster though the country has not yet recorded a case of Covid-19.Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said the awareness campaign will also help to demystify several misconceptions surrounding the Corona Virus.“Every ZANU PF member should therefore be an advocate for zero tolerance to Corona Virus and we are moving with the motto “Zero Tolerance to Covid-19 begins with me, begins with you and begins with all of us.Dear Comrades, let me also take this opportunity to congratulate our Visionary Leader, the President and First Secretary of the Party, His Excellency, Cde ED Mnangagwa for declaring Corona Virus a state of national disaster despite the fact that our country has not recorded any cases. It is against this background that we are all gathered here today from the country’s ten provinces so that we will go down to cell and village levels to disseminate critical information regarding, characteristics, signs and symptoms as well as preventive measures.” Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said as a response to Covid-19, the Party will from this week undertake a nationwide blitz where Provinces will simultaneously hold Provincial Coordinating Committee meetings focusing on the pandemic. She said those who participated in the awareness campaign must disseminate the information on Covid-19 to lower structures of the Party. “Thereafter, each province is going to dispatch teams to all cells and villages in a bid to ensure that every Zimbabwean from all corners of the country, including the most remote places is educated on Covid-19 so that we are prepared to fight against it, or better still, prevent it”.While Covid-19 has caused havoc across the globe research has shown that the pandemic is controllable if countries adopt a comprehensive approach tailored to their circumstances.
