His Excellency the President and ZANU PF First Secretary Cde E.D Mnangagwa has called for Teachers for Economic Development to develop multi pronged programmes and projects. He further urged them to take advantage of economic opportunities that government offers.
President Mnangagwa said this yesterday at the launch of the Teachers for Economic Development at Harare International Conference Centre. The programme was running under the theme " integrating Zimbabwean Teachers into the Mainstream Economy through ideological orientation"
His Excellency President Mnangagwa highlighted that the teachers should advantage of economic opportunities that government offers.
"To that end, I urge you, our teachers to take advantage of the economic opportunities that my Government has on offer, by establishing enterprises for wealth creation and the attainment of self-actualisation and fulfilled lives", President Mnangagwa said
He also commended teachers for inspiring students and communities.
"To date, I recognise and applaud you, our teachers, for inspiring students and communities as you discharge your duties throughout the country. Through you, the education sector continues to churn out young talented boys and girls as well as graduates, whose competencies and entrepreneurial skills are driving the production of more "Made in Zimbabwe goods and services", President Mnangagwa said.
His Excellency went on to say that teachers must ensure that children are globally competitive.
"It is equally you, our teachers, who must ensure that our children are globally competitive and can stand shoulder to shoulder with their peers from across the world", he said
President Mnangagwa further applauded the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for creating science which will create national human capital.
"l commend the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for creating Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Centres of Excellence. These incorporate Innovation Hubs which are helping to nurture science, technology and innovation mindsets by our students and will ultimately create the critical national human capital base to spur industrialisation", His Excellency President Mnangagwa said.
President Mnangagwa,"On this note, allow me to recognise the successes that young Zimbabweans continue to score in various regional and international competitions. Locally, we are seeing widespread creativity, science and technology innovations as well as a patriotic student's corps, who take pride in being Zimbabwean. This is due to the hard work of our teachers, well done".
