When His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa took over Chairmanship, one of the things that he said to each Zimbabwean was that we were all SADC Chairmans in our own right. That meant that each of us at that individual level needed to preach unity across nations and be true leaders.
It meant us loving those within the region as we love ourselves in order for Africa to take its rightful place in the world.
We have been downplayed for centuries, yet we possess riches that other continents would kill for.
Many of us upon realizing that we are indeed SADC Chairmans, have been uniting the region and going beyond our borders to build our countries, after all, it is these same countries that have united their forces to speak out against the illegal sanctions imposed on us.
It was this weekend when I realised the type of leadership that President Mnangagwa has brought about. Hearing Mozambique's Manica Province Governor, Cde Franscisca Tomas echo the SADC Chairman's words for his own people in her country was out of this world.
If ever we, as Zimbabweans, have taken this man for granted, we must think twice. The Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo mantra has gone beyond borders and will see to the transformation of Mozambique in the next five years. Given the zeal with which the Governor spoke to her compatriots, then Johane, the 5th of Africa International Church Founder Archbishop Dr. Andby Makururu's prophesy about Mozambique's financial transformation in the coming five years will come true.
People within the region are listening intently to the teachings by our own leaders. They see the vision better than we are seeing it and will stop at nothing to take that leap of faith and transform their own countries.
It was as though I was listening to my own President encouraging us as a nation. Speaking in Shona, Governor Tomas challenged each Mozambican to love their country and build it.
She questioned the sanity witnessed in Maputo which witnessed the destruction and thanked the people of Chimoio for not doing the same.
She also took time to thank the Archbishop for going beyond Zimbabwe to teach Mozambicans to love and build their own country.
"Hapana munhu anouya achibva kunze kuzotivakira muno. Tese ngatibatanei. Nekuti kubatana ndiko kukuru. Patakauya ne nyika ino takarwisa takabatana. Johane the 5th of Africa International Church held its meeting in Chimoio with its founder, who taught the congregates to love their country and build it.
