President Mnangagwa together with Vice President Rtd General Constatine Chiwenga and Rtd Colonel Kembo Mohadi today met a group of Catholic Bishops at State House and discussed several areas of national interest which include the health delivery system, political and economic situation.Addressing the media soon after meeting the Catholic Bishops and Priests, President Mnangagwa said the meeting was fruitful and tackled areas of national interest to pave way for smooth operations.President Mnangagwa highlighted that the meeting came as a result of the request from the Bishop through a letter which they had written to see the leadership of the nation.“The bishops sent us a memo of issues they are raising across the board and asked to meet us as leadership we acceded to their request “There were areas of the health sector and national health delivery economic situation and social condition of the people in the country,political situation and role of political parties in national dialogue,government and churches civil society interaction so we covered those areas and we found it very fruitful in terms of the contributions by the Bishops who came to meet us,” said President Mnangagwa.Turning to the issues of fired doctors President Mnangagwa said they had agreed as leadership to give them moratorium for two days to return to work after a strong deliberation with the church leaders.“They requested moratorium on the question of doctors for two days that can we offer a moratorium for two days for doctors who have been dismissed to come back without application and we granted the request," he said.Arch Bishop Ndhlovu also commended the meeting with President Mnangagwa as successful and looked forward to good results from the discussions.He also said the political dialogue is a process which needs collective effort from all stakeholders for it to be a success.Arch Bishop Ndhlovu,Bishops Mupandasekwa,Horan, Nyandoro and Father Mukumba were part of the meeting.
