President signs off Global Compensation Deed

The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary, Cde Nick Mangwana, has described today’s Government ceremony marking the signing of the Global Compensation Deed with former white farmers as a historical chapter in resolving the land question. Cde Mangwana said the ceremony was a fulfilment of ZANU PF First Secretary and President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa’s promise to build a new Zimbabwe. “President Mnangagwa promised to build a New Zimbabwe, founded on the principles of openness, dialogue and progress. On remembering the past, while embracing the future. Today’s signing bears testimony to his sincerity. “Today President Mnangagwa is showing that the principle of peaceful conflict resolution and cooperation is the bedrock upon which all Zimbabweans can find each other. It is the same tone informing our interactions with other nations,” Cde Mangwana said. Cde Mangwana said the Global Compensation Deed brings closure to the land question. “Today is a historic day in Zimbabwe as the country signs the Global Compensation Deed with former White Farmers. This is a milestone in putting a finality to the issue of improvements made on farms acquired for the Land Reform Programme,” Cde Mangwana said. Cde Mangwana used the opportunity to pay tribute to the late Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement,  Rtd Air Marshal, Cde Perrance Shiri, whom he said “contributed to this day.”
