President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged the young people to stay vigilant and patriotic at all times defending the integrity and dignity of the nation.
The Head of State and Government also urged the youth to resist and reject machinations of those who would want to divide them and the nation at large.
Addressing thousands of youths at the National Youth Day commemorations in Bulawayo today, ZANU PF First Secretary and President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said the prosperity of the region and Africa is in the hands of the young generation and the youth must do more to the realisation of the Africa.
President Mnangagwa also challenged the young people to learn from each other sharing knowledge and experiences for the betterment of their respective communities.
President Mnangagwa also reiterated that the Second Republic has demostrated its unwavering commitment to empower young people through appointments in key leadership and decision making positions.
“I urge you young people to guard jealousy this long standing tradition of unity ,solidarity and peaceful coexistence .The current development era equally demands that you constantly learn from each other sharing knolwedge and experiences for the betterment of your respective communities and non but yourselves has that responsiblity.
“The prosperity of our region and our Africa is in your hands.We the older generations played our part to bring about this independence the freedom and peace we enjoy today.The ball is now in your court I expect you to deliver.
“The Youth of Africa can do more to the realisation of the Africa we all deserve.This national youth day is set aside and dedicated to recognise the potential of you the young people in our country , us the leaders believe in your potential and will continue to ensure that your will and energy are harnessed so that you accomplish your dreams and aspiration and our national vison 2030,”said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also commended the youths for the consciousness they have demonstrated in the rich history and heritage of Zimbabwe through the National Youth Service.
“I also commend you for the consciousness you have of our rich history as well as the future we are marching forward I urge you to continue working hard for our great motherland ,Zimbabwe with unflinching patriotism and loyalty.
“Resist and reject machinations of those who would want to divide you and divide our nation.The second republic is walking the talk we are leaving no one and no place behind.
“I further call upon you our young people of this Great nation of Zimbabwe to continue displaying atmost discipline, commintment and hard honest work for the collective good of our motherland Zimbabwe. In doing so you must be aware the unity we enjoy today is a fundamental inheritance of the liberation struggle. No one must jeopadise or endanger these critical national aspects of our history.
“The Second Republic has demostrated its unwavering commitment to empower young people through the deliberate and bold placement of youths in key leadership and decision making positions.These include government ministries departments and agencies and parliament as well as other startegic institutions such as boards of parastatals and advisory councils among others.
“I challenge the young people deployed in various leadership positions to continue displaying principles of servant leadership and discipline while at the same time government urging the youth to fully participate in the social economic and cultural affairs of our motherland Zimbabwe,”said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also urged the young people to embrace technology and harness the transformative power of the new digital world.
“In this digital age you must be equipped with the necessary skills to navigate the complex global ecosystem.The rapid application of artifical intelligence entails that we must adapt to the fast changing world by capacitaing ourselves sector by sector with the requisite digital capabilities.
“I therefore challenge you our people to harness the transformative power of techonolgy ,innovate and unleash enthusiasim as well as entrepreneurship skills towards creating wealth and job opportunities,”said President Mnangagwa.
