The President and First Secretary Cde ED Mnangagwa today met fellow Principals of Political Parties
under POLAD to decide on how best to meet within structures of the pandemic.
During the meeting, Cde Mnangagwa noted that Government would soon release its findings on the
so-called abductions of three MDC lady activists who breached the law demonstrations in Harare.
The President also briefed his colleagues on Covid-19 and measures government has taken. The
stashing of foreign currency and efforts to destabilize the economy were also of topical concern with
the President revealing that a clear hierarchy of misdemeanors was forcing Government to intensify
surveillance, and to introduce curbs to daily banking operations, including forcing banks to award
interest on FCAs, while lending monies to deficit units in the market.
The principals urged Government to take a stronger position on returnees who sneak back into the
country without subjecting themselves to the anti-Covid-19 regimen while sharing their joy knowing
that community policing is exposing such errant returnees.
Principals urged Govt to broaden local manufactures beyond health-related accessories so the
economy drifts towards effective import substitution in order to save foreign currency outflow.
