63 returnees were today welcomed by ZANU PF Secretary General Cde Obert Mpofu along with several other Politburo members in a fashioned manner ahead of the Harare East scheduled by-elections.
The coming home move is timely as the Party pumps up its mobilisation strategy to garner the much needed support for the Constituency.
Speaking during the event, the Secretary General commended the returnees for the work they are doing for ZANU PF.
"We have been told about the good work that you are doing for the ruling Party. This is what the His Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is always talking about. He is an open, welcoming and loving leader who has given us the instructions to all everyone to come into the Party so that we build our country. Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo as he always says. We are grateful that you have come back into the Party."
The National Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha urged the returnees to be part of the programmes that the Party is conducting.
"We would like to thank the efforts of the Huyai Kumusha/Buyanini Ekhaya/Come Home desk under the Commissariat Department for the work done during the August 2023 General Harmonized Elections. The desk has now established coordinators who are working to assist in recruiting members to ZANU PF. We are very happy and embrace them. What is important at the moment is that as we conduct our restructuring exercise, all returnees must feel free to become part of the restructuring exercise so that they belong to a cell and be elected into positions. They have embraced what the President said that we should leave noone and no place behind."
Also speaking about the meeting, Secretary for Information and Publicity Department Cde Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa said the coming of the returnees reflects on the sounds policies of the Second Republic.
"It was a pleasing occasion today at ZANU PF, the permanent Zimbabwe revolution. We had Cde Chebundo with his wonderful work on the returnees from Harare East Constituency. They all came in their scores to the Party of the Zimbabwe revolution and had a chance to see ZANU PF at work, to see a Party with structures, to see a Party with an organization to see a Party which discusses policies and programmes so that they can deliver on the prospect of prosperity to the people of Zimbabwe," Ambassador Mutsvangwa said.
"This is the tradition of the Party which fought for the independence of Zimbabwe, delivered that independence and is now under the Second Republic of President E.D Mnangagwa working day and night to make sure that prosperity is finally given to the people of Zimbabwe who have laboured for it for long.
"So it was a pleasure to have the returnees come to ZANU PF today and we feel good that as the opposition breaks up into bits and pieces as it is floundering with no direction, no leadership and as it is losing even the support of its sponsors from the post colonial powers, there's somewhere where there's order, organization, hope and where there's the material aspect of prosperity being worked day and night to be delivered to the Zimbabwean people and it is at ZANU PF.
"So to the returnees we say to you, go out there and seek more of those people who had been lost, who went to the other parties, the Second Republic is delivering on all the promises of the people of Zimbabwe.
"President Mnangagwa delivers. He is building steel plants. He is building lithium plants. He has Pfumvudza. He is using gold to support our currency so that we have a stable currency and do away with the pain of inflation which is the real enemy of the people and which imperialism always tries to use to overthrow the liberation movements. Cde Mnangagwa is firing all the pistons to make sure that Zimbabwe's economy delivers on the prospects of prosperity.
So returnees, come to the home prosperity which is ZANU PF."
The Director for the KHE programme Cde Blessings Chebundo said "63 champions or coordinators were received by the Secretary General and other Politburo members. Wr are happy that they have heeded to the call by the President to come home, a thing which has never happened before. In him, we have a good leader who is magnanimous and welcomes people to work together to build Zimbabwe."
The KHE Deputy Director Cde Memory Sibanda took time to call others to come to ZANU PF.
"ZANU PF is an open and welcoming Party. Do not fear coming to be part of this revolutionary Party. The door is wide open for all to come and build their country."
