President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa has relayed a message of condolence to MDC’s Nelson Chamisa on the passing on of his mother.
In a tweet this morning President Mnangagwa wrote “I was sad to hear of the passing on of Ambuya Chamisa, the mother of Nelson Chamisa. Our thoughts and prayers are with @nelsonchamisa and the Chamisa family at this difficult time.”
Other notables that sent condolence messages included Thokozani Khupe who tweeted “My deepest condolences to the Chamisa family. I pray that the lord comforts you in this difficult time. MHSRIP”
President Mnangagwa’s condolence message is testament that he has risen above petty squabbles which have polarized social media reports according to Zimbabweans.
As a Statesman, the President’s condolence message must be embraced as a call for Zimbabweans to exhibit traits of humanity, ubuntu/hunhu which are cardinal pillars of our society as a people. We abhor desecrating the dead rather we empathize with the bereaved towards building unity and oneness. Kuchema nevanochema.
It is however sad that on many occasions supporters inclined to opposition political parties are known to undermine and send disparaging messages when the Nation loses a National Hero. One would expect that they have learnt something.
