His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has opened yet another production facility in the growth of Varun Beverages.
Over the years, the company has registered a steady growth of its production lines of Beverages.
Speaking during the launch of the Cheetos brand in Harare this Wednesday, President Mnangagwa said this serves as an endorsement of the country’s economy.
“It is my distinct pleasure to be part of another milestone in Zimbabwe’s industrialization journey, here at the Varun Beverages as we commission the new production plant of the world-famous Cheetos brand, here in Zimbabwe. The local production of such globally celebrated brands, serve as an endorsement of the country’s economy, policies and ability to deliver to deliver high-quality, internationally competitive products,” President Mnangagwa.
“The added US$20 million investment by Varun Beverages also marks industrial diversification, creation of employment opportunities for our people and manufacturing sector-integration, into both regional and global value chains. Congratulations, Makorokoto, Amhlophe.
“I recall that it has been eight years since I inaugurated the initial plant plant here at Varun Beverages. At that time, there was only one production line, with a capacity of approximately 10 million bottles per month.”
President Mnangagwa expressed his pleasure to note that this complex has significantly expanded into a world-class manufacturing hub, with the addition of five more production capacity of nearly 120 million bottles per month. Additionally, the provision of direct employment of approximately 2000 people, as well as indirect empowerment opportunities for women and youth entrepreneurs is a commendable achievement.
“The company’s impressive growth strategy, illustrates what can be achieved through consistency, sustained investment, and strong collaboration between Government and the private sector.”
President Mnangagwa also laid the Foundation Stone of a new new juice and dairy blend production facility.
The coming in of Varun Beverages has helped contribute to the 5.5 percent growth per annum.
