The New Government will soon be upgrading Hwange Unit 1 to Unit 6 following the successful completion of Hwange Unit 7 and 8, ZANU-PF Head Quarters Department of Information has learnt. 

Speaking during the Inauguration swearing in ceremony held in Harare President Mnangagwa said His Administration was going to continue to deliver energy self-sufficiency to the country.

“During the last five year-term, my Administration delivered energy self-sufficiency to our country. Courtesy of our comprehensive, strategic partnership with the People’s Republic of China, Hwange Unit 7 and Unit 8 are now on stream. 

We will now move on to upgrade Hwange Unit 1 to Unit 6, among other national strategic power generation stations. Additional work is continuing towards broadening our energy mix, inclusive of renewable energy, to increase the total energy output, in tandem with the demand created by our fast growing economy,” said the President.
