MORE CORPORATES COME ON BOARD IN THE COVID19 FIGHT
The Chamber of Mines and Tongaat Hulett have given another shot in the arm to government towards against the spread of the Corona Virus. Many corporates have come on board in the fight that has witnessed two deaths in Zimbabwe and several others the world over. Over 1 million cases have been recorded the world over. Tongaat donated 30 000 tonnes of ethanol and ZW$12 million while Chamber of Mines also gave towards the cause. In a statement the Chamber of Mines wrote: “The Chamber of Mines recognizes with deep concern the social and economic impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on the economy of Zimbabwe. As a result, the Chamber of Mines and the mining industry fraternity join government and the nation at large in the fight against the scourge,” the statement said. “The Chamber of Mines is targeting in excess of one million USD to support in the fight through the acquisition of equipment that include ventilators and testing kits, creation of isolation centres around all ten provinces support in the hospitals, refurbishing them and equipping them where mining entities operate, acquisition of drugs, protective clothing for medical staff, drugs and sanitizers.”
