Cde Mabel Chinomona, Secretary for Women's Affairs in the revolutionary Party, ZANU PF, has called on women in decision making positions to align their efforts for the upliftment of women.

Speaking during the ZANU PF Women’s League Meeting with Senior Female Civil Servants at the Party Headquarters this Friday, highlighted that women have a crucial role to play in the economic matrix hence the need for their upliftment through better placed women.

"Let me begin by extending a warm, heartfelt welcome to the Secretary General, the very Honourable Advocate Mudenda, and all of you, our distinguished participants gathered here today. I am especially pleased with the attendance of our Secretary General because he is recognized the world over as a committed He for She champion. This historic gathering is a first of its kind, a meeting designed to unite the women of Zimbabwe, at a high level, a policy level. Your attendance is testament to our collective commitment to strengthening our partnership in advancing women's leadership in politics and in governance," Cde Chinomona said.

"We request you to develop mentorship programmes where you mentor and help elevate other women and girls. Mine is a call to action, where I implore you to pull your sisters up. Today, I am calling all of you to actively commit to pull up as many women and girls as you possibly can, using the tools and apparatus brought to your disposal by virtue of your positions."

The meeting brought numerous women among them Public Service Commission, SMEDCO, Engineering Council of Zimbabwe, Health Professions of Zimbabwe, Securities and Exchange Commission, Foreign Affairs Ministry, Local Government and Deposit Protection amongst others.

The meeting was held under the theme, "Harnessing the collective power of women."
