EIGHT BILLION DOLLAR AGRICULTURAL ECONOMY BY 2025 ENVISAGED
ZANU PF First Secretary and President of Zimbabwe Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa says the Economic Recovery Plan set will achieve an eight billion dollar agricultural economy
Agriculture is the backbone of Zimbabwe's economy with many gallant sons and daughters sacrificing their lives to ensure the landless black majority acquire land.
To that end over 300 000 black people have been resettled and are contributing immensely to a self-reliant and food sufficient economy.
Such concepts as the Pfumvudza have seen many households being trained in order to eradicate hunger at that level.
"We set out an $8 billion economy on agriculture by 2025. Given the pace at which events are going, we will reach the target before the deadline," the President said.
"We engaged the private sector to manage and implement Command Agriculture. This was done to give sanity to the programme and formalise our farming practice."
The President challenged Party members to brace up for the summer cropping season.
"Let's use honest ways to make a living. As ZANU PF, we should brace up for the agricultural season and the 2023 elections. The Revolution is within our DNA. We are disciplined and hard workers," he said.
"ZANU PF must not shy away from doing what is in the interest of the majority. The strength of the party is in the masses not individuals in top echelons of the Party."
