President Mnangagwa has said diplomacy remains an important catalyst in guarding the country’s sovereignty playing also a pivotal role in advancing social and economic transformation.
Giving his keynote address at the meeting with Zimbabwe’s Ambassadors at State House today, President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said the Second Republic’s economic Diplomacy thrust has proven to be critical in infusing dynamism into international trade and subsequently, economic growth and development.
“The Second Republic’s economic Diplomacy thrust has proven to be critical in infusing dynamism into international trade and subsequently, economic growth and development.
“As the nation awaits the launch of the National Development strategy 2, I wish to applaud you for your pivotal role towards the successes registered under the National Development Strategy 1.
“These in part, benefited from strategic partnership forged through our diplomatic presence abroad.
Through our “Zimbabwe is Open for Business, "mantra, my government is committed to the improvement of the ease of doing business environment.
“Locally, we are working towards establishing hubs to support product improvements and quality assurance of diverse exports markets. The reduction of non-tariff barriers strained custom process, development of e-commerce platforms and use of digital tools to connect local producers to international buyers, will complement this process. Our Embassies must, therefore, continue to establish new markets expand existing ones and diversify our partnership, to support our local productions, "said President Mnangagwa.
The Head of State and Government also said under his administration government continues to address the modernisation and upgrading of missions in line with availability of resources.
President Mnangagwa also commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International trade for progress in the formulation of strategic documents after the 2024 strategic workshop.
“On its part, Government continues to address the modernisation and upgrading of missions in line with availability of resources' wish to commend the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International trade for progress in the formulation of strategic documents as I instructed after your 2024 strategic workshop.
“This is an important step in codifying our diplomatic endeavors, and for efficient and effective service delivery in an ever-changing world.
“I, directed the Ministry to develop and implement structured coordination mechanism between the foreign service and all ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government to ensure a focused, purposeful, beneficial and coordinated presence of Zimbabwe on the international arena.
“As I Conclude, may I reiterate that diplomacy remains an important catalyst in guarding our sovereignty and advancing social and economic transformation, in our beloved motherland Zimbabwe," said President Mnangagwa.
