CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY NECESSARY: PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA
President E.D Mnangagwa says corporate social responsibility must follow operations
This he said during his remarks in Manicaland Province where he toured Anjin and Diamond Pangoda mining companies this Saturday.
The mining sector has a US$12 billion target which will assist the country in achieving vision 2030.
President Mnangagwa said it is imperative for the companies to employ workers within their areas of operation and those who were displaced in order to pave way for the companies' operations.
"Priority of employment should be given to locals in particular women and youth. I gather the company already has 500 workers and I hope the majority are locals," President Mnangagwa said.
"The company must support families that were removed to make way for its Operations. Further to that mining companies must rehabilitate areas that they work on when operations are terminated.
President Mnangagwa added that the companies must shun corruption.
"Diamond mining companies must shun corruption,we have zero tolerance of corruption. My Government will give Anjin all the support and we shall continue to give predictable policies."
