CHINA-AFRICA TRADE BOOSTS AFRICA'S
President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa says the China-Africa trade and investment has boosted Africa's economic development, improved its economic situation and to a large degree reduced its poverty.
He said this during opening remarks at the International Seminar on Poverty Eradication And Responsibility of Political Parties in China.
The three-day virtual meeting has been attended
"The special bond adds another layer of significance to our excellent State-to-State relations, which led Zimbabwe to be elevated from an "All-weather-Friend" to an all encompassing "Comprehensive Strategic Partner". Zimbabwe is on new path. Eradicating poverty remains at the forefront of the Government's overall policy objective," he said.
"Zimbabwe has been implementing poverty reduction strategies since the attainment of its independence in 1980. Though we are faces with humanitarian challenges like other nations in the region, in our case it has been worsened
"We, however, are forging ahead in making sure our people are food secure."
He said "preparations for the 2020/2021 summer agricultural season are at an advanced stage. Many activities in this regard will be resourced, with high in the list the Pfumvudza/Intwasa, Presidential Input Scheme, Command/Smart Agriculture and the Presintial Cotton Scheme with the launch of the Belarus Mechanisation programme which was held on 30 September 2020," President Mnangagwa said.
"The Pfumvudza concept, which is aimed at climate proofing agriculture
"This programme falls under the Agriculture Recovery Plan, which have undergone the required training, meaning that they will have to practically apply their new knowledge for full benefit."
President Mnangagwa highlighted that projects such as the bakeries, production horticulture, mining and value addition, processing of mopane worms, processing and packaging of millet, peanut butter, poultry, piggery, soap and vaseline making and many others are ongoing.
