By Shadreck Gurenje Speaker of Parliament has announced the expulsion of four Members of Parliament of the MDC Alliance after their leader Thokozani Khupe recalled them from the House of assembly. Advocate Jacob Mudenda has announced that the trio are no longer Members of Parliament and President ED Mnangagwa will proclaim by-elections dates for the affected Constituencies. The expelled are Kuwadzana legislator Chalton Hwende, Tabitha Khumalo (proportional representation legislator), Prosper Mutseyami (Chikanga Dangamvura MP) and Midlands’s Senator Lillian Timveous. The expulsion of these unruly elements also came as yet another big blow for the already grounded Chamisa following the recent Supreme Court decision which nullified his leadership of the MDC T and restored Thokozani Khupe as legitimate successor to the late co-founder of the Movement for Democratic Change (Tsvangirai) pending a congress to be held in three months. Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda said the MDC-T had written to Parliament sometimes in April 2020 exercising their right as stipulated in section 129(1)(k) of the constitution, which clearly outlines that if a person has ceased to be a member of the political party that brought them into Parliament, then the political party can recall them through writing to the Speaker or the Senate President. The current chaos within the two opposition parties MDC-T and MDC Alliance show exposes their political immaturity and lack of density to be the people’s favourite come 2023. The sentiments by the three expelled MDC Alliance Members of Parliament after decision ruled by Parliament also exposes their arrogance and silliness in failing to interpret the law by which they are expected to understand and protect as lawmakers.
