CHAMISA DOOMED: AS WORLD POLITICAL PARTIES COLLECTIVELY FIGHT COVID-19
By Shadreck Gurenje Global Political Parties and leaders joined hands yesterday in strongly opposing politicization of public health issues and stigmatization of other countries in the fight against the deadly coronavirus, more so encouraging all countries to adopt an integrate approach. The call by the world major political parties complements the efforts being spearheaded by His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa in fighting the pandemic by involving all social groups or ethnic groups. The Revolutionary Party First Secretary in his Politburo opening remarks, also concurred with world political parties' call when he clearly outlined that COVID-19 knows no political affiliation in apparent reference to the diabolic theatrics and tendencies by Chamisa who has been attempting to turn the global health pandemic into a political show. Nelson Chamisa and his deputy Tendai Biti have been on several occasions challenged to stop playing politics with human life as the nation mounts a fight against the coronavirus. In a joint open letter penned collectively by world political parties concerning closer international cooperation against covid-19, countries are encouraged to strengthen the sharing of experiences and medical cooperation in containing the outbreak. “We encourage countries to strengthen the sharing of experience and medical cooperation in containing the outbreak, including joint research and development of specific medicine and vaccine. “We call on the provision of material, technical and other support to developing countries and countries in need. Let the sunlight of cooperation disperse the darkness of the epidemic. “We strongly oppose politicization of public health issues and stigmatization of other countries in the name of epidemic control. We stand firmly against all discriminatory comments and practices against any country, region or ethnic group, and any attempt to undermine the cooperation of countries to contain the epidemic,” they said collectively. Commendably, the ZANU PF Government under visionary leadership of President Mnangagwa has already made strides in planning ahead instead of reacting to the disease. President Mnangagwa launched the Covid-19 Response Plan before the nation recorded its first cases, a move that has played a pivotal role in minimizing the risk of the nation prone to attack. The move by the President is in line with the Revolutionary Party’s policies chief among them ensuring that accessibility of quality healthcare remains a priority during the era of this global pandemic.
