Bulawayo promises nation memorable Uhuru celebrations
ZANU PF Bulawayo province has assured the nation of memorable 40th independence celebrations as preparations are gathering pace.The revelations were made following a meeting between the province’s interim leaders and national leadership led by the National Political Commissar, Cde Victor Matemadanda.For the first time, the main Independence celebrations will be held outside Harare in line with the new dispensation’s devolution thrust.Acting Bulawayo Chairperson, Cde Absolom Sikhosana, speaking at a meeting held at the Party’s provincial offices said the province was honoured to host the 40th independence celebrations.“We met the leadership and we briefed them about the Independence celebrations preparations and we can assure the nation they are on track. On the challenges, we appraised them and they will take them to the relevant people to resolve. As a province we have started mobilising through the DCCs and we can assure the nation of a bumper crowd and memorable celebrations”.National Political Commissar, Cde Victor Matemadanda said, the national leadership had received reports from the Bulawayo Province on its state of preparedness and was satisfied with progress.“Bulawayo was chosen to be the first city to host Independence celebrations outside Harare. This move represents the President and Government’s commitment to devolution. In our meeting the Provincial Leadership made us aware of their challenges and we have committed to resolve them”.
