It is seven days to go before we join the young people in celebrating National Youth Day.
The day which is celebrated every 21 February will be held under the theme, "positioning youth empowerment and development towards vision 2030."
In today's countdown, we feature ZANU PF Deputy Politburo member for Security Cde Tendai Chirau who believes that the current youth have a huge role to play in churning Zimbabwe forward.
"It is a special day set aside for the youth and set deliberately on 21st of February to ensure that the values of the liberation struggle which were represented by the late National Hero President Robert Mugabe then, continue to be inculcated in the young people of this country," Cde Chirau said.
"As you may be aware the majority of people who fought for the liberation of this country were young people. As they were young people, it is now incumbent upon us as the generation which was born after independence to ensure that we hold those values that our predecessors had for the development of this nation.
"What should we do? We should defend this country. We should make sure that we advance the cause of the revolution. I think it is important that going forward, we know that the generation of the 1970s which was the youth generation of the 1970s managed to dismantle colonialism and this current generation must make sure that it advances the economic agenda. It advances building the nation. It advances the ethos of peace. It advances the aspect of production and productivity."
