Zim-China relations deepens

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has commended the readiness of the People’s Republic of China to increase high level exchanges to deepen relations and policy consultation programmes to help Zimbabwe realise Vision 2030.

Speaking at the handover ceremony of the New Parliament in Mt Hampden this month President Emmerson Mnangagwa said his administration stands ready to strengthen strategic synergies with the People’s Republic of China and the Communist Party of China in critical sectors of the economy to scale up production.

“Government stands ready to strengthen strategic synergies and to share experiences with the People’s Republic of China and the Communist Party of China with regards to advancing rejuvenation and growing our economy.

“We welcome the readiness of the People’s Republic of China to increase high level exchanges to deepen relations and policy consultation programmes to help Zimbabwe realise Vision 2030.We look forward to practical cooperation in the pillar of agriculture modernisation, industrialisation, and talent and skills development,” said President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa also reiterated that the Second Republic has witnessed increased diplomatic and economic engagement between Zimbabwe and the People’s Republic of China that will help the nation attain Vision 2030.

“We have witnessed increased diplomatic and economic engagement between Zimbabwe and the People’s Republic of China. In addition, our country has seen many more Chinese companies investing in various sectors of the economy. The emergence of quality export products from Zimbabwe, particularly citrus, entering China market is a welcome development.

“The milestones that Zimbabwe has realised since the advent of the Second Republic have been positively impacted by the support of His Excellency, President Xi Jinping and the people of China. Through the Belt and Road initiative, the People’s Republic of China has played a major role in infrastructure and energy development across the African continent, which will undoubtedly go a long way to advance industrialisation under the AU Agenda 2063,”said President Mnangagwa.

Zimbabwe and The People’s Republic relations of China continue to grow promoting partnership and smooth investment projects across the nation.

“Similarly, Zimbabwe is committed to the core principles and pillars of the Global Development initiative, particularly the need for people centred and multi-pronged economic development as enunciated by His Excellency ,President Xi Jingping.

“Through our comprehensive Strategic and Cooperative Partnership, I am confident that the relationship between Zimbabwe and China will grow from strength to strength towards shared and development and prosperity. Going forward, we look forward to increased, support, solidarity partnership and investment from the People’s Republic of China,”said President Mnangagwa.

President Xi Jinping and the People’s Republic of China also to supported four key projects through a concessionary loan facility for the construction of Hwange Unit 7 and 8 as well as another for the modernisation and upgrade of the R.G Mugabe international Airport, and a Grant for the construction of this New Parliament Building .Additionally, support was availed for the Netone Broadband Expansion Project.
