Acting President Chiwenga has said citizens from all walks of life need to take note of significant progress under the National Development Strategy 1 NDS1 as government transition into National Development Strategy 2 NDS2.
Addressing mourners at the burial of the late Brigadier General Ngarava at the National Heroes Acre today, Acting President General (RTD) Dr C.G.D.N Chiwenga said as the nation transition into the National Development Strategy 2 Zimbabwe stand poised for accelerated growth.
“We need to take note of significant progress under the national development strategy 1 NDS1.As we transition into national development strategy 2 (NDS2) Zimbabwe stand poised for accelerated growth-provided we entrench ethical leadership at all levels, defeat corruption and uphold a whole Government approach,” said Acting President Chiwenga.
Acting President Chiwenga also underscored that as the nation accelerate towards vision 2030 of becoming an upper middle income society focus must be on promoting industrialisation and value addition.
“Realising our vison of becoming an upper middle income economy society by 2030 hinges on collective commitment to ethical behaviour and rejection of selfish enrichment practices. Our focus must be on industrialisation, value addition and inclusive growth. We must remain steadfast in our efforts to transform the economy, generate quality jobs and enhance the livelihoods of our citizens,” said Acting President Chiwenga.
Acting President Chiwenga also described the late Brigadier General as a unifier who championed the spirit of unity during his long time of military service to the great nation of Zimbabwe.
“In this moment of reflection, let us channel our grief into a renewed commitment of our country, fostering the spirit of unity that Brigadier General Ngarava so fervently championed. Together, we can ensure that his legacy lives on as we strive to build a stronger and more harmonious Zimbabwe.
“As I concluded, today we lay to rest the late Brigadier General Ngarava alongside his colleagues at this National shrine, for remembrance and eternal reverence. We promise that we will continue to work hard to defend and prosper what you sacrificed your life for, namely right to sovereignty as a nation state and prosperity of our motherland, Zimbabwe.
The late Brigadier General Ngarava whose Chimurenga name was Cde Elias Chimurenga, was born on 29Mrach 1959 in Chivi district, Masvingo Province.
The late Brigadier General joined the liberation struggle in 1976 in Mozambique and in 1977 he was sent to Syria for military training where he performed remarkably and then later deployed in Gaza province where he operated until independence.
After Independence he participated in peace campaigns in Mozambique and Democratic Republic of Congo. He also held several military appointments in fields of Army education and defence logistics.
