We have surprises for the youth: Minister Machakaire

By Margaret Kamba

ZANU PF Secretary for Youth Cde Tino Machakaire says the youth are in for a treat this National Youth Day.

Speaking during an interview ahead of the day which is celebrated every 21 February, Minister Machakaire said this year’s celebrations will be different.

"Next week on the 21st of February we celebrate our National Youth Day. Our event this time round is going to be celebrated in Masvingo at Mushagashe Vocational Training Centre. Last time it was celebrated in Lupane," Cde Machakaire said.

"This time we decided to do the celebrations in Masvingo so that we make sure that we leave noone and no place unattended.

"At the moment we are busy working on making the event successful and different from previous years. With the excitement that our youth have, it is going to be something different. Why I said it is different is because we want to include every sector. Either you are in mining, youth in agriculture, everyone must be included because youth these days are looking for tangible programmes. We need to move as a team."

This year’s commemorations will be held under the theme "Positioning youth empowerment and development towards vision 2030."
