Alec Jaure the Secretary General World Fitness Federation Zimbabwe says this year’s Novice Cup Bodybuilding and Fitness Contest is expected to register an improved performance.
The contest which will be held on the 16th of March 2024 we will be hosted at LongChen Plaza's Food Nest Restaurant in Harare.
Speaking about the event, Jaure said preparations are on course.
"Most athletes are gearing up for this event and we are expecting a good number of athletes to come and compete. Our preparations are going on well and we are still running around engaging potential sponsors to come on board and help in cash or kind in addition to what we already have and make the event a success," Jaure said.
"We are positive that the event will be a success and we are working tirelessly for the best of the athletes. We are expecting more than 60 athletes on the day basing on the registration progress and enquiries being made. Athletes are registering from all Provinces as they are willing to take part. We expect more than 40 males and between 15 and 20 females. Athletes are still preparing in their respective provinces. We expect them only to show up on the contest day."
Jaure added that "People can look forward to an exciting event with improved competition. Even the ladies are giving a positive response and our number of ladies is likely to be well above the number of those who participated during our previous year's contests."
The Novice Cup is a contest during which only athletes who will be competing for the first time are eligible to participate. This is a platform for first timers to showcase their talents and gain exposure.
