ZANU PF Politburo has suspended the holding of Provincial election to focus on the holding of the Annual People’s Conference set for October next month, a senior Party official has said.

This was said by the ZANU PF Secretary for Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, Cde Mike Bimha who is also the Party’s Acting National Spokesperson Cde Mike Bimha.

Cde Bimha emphasised that the Provincial elections had been suspended to allow people to concentrate more on the National People Conference preparations.

“The Politburo, following deliberations, resolved to suspend provincial elections until further notice. This was done to allow party structures to focus on the preparations of the national annual people’s conference,” Cde Bimha said.

Cde Bimha also explained that the number of delegates attending the National Conference had been reduced with more emphasis being on the adherence to the Covid19 regulations.

“The Politburo endorsed the recommendation to reduce the number of delegates attending both the national conference as well as provincial virtual centres. It also endorsed the need to follow the Covid-19 regulations and protocols. This implies that all the delegates at each Provincial centre must have been vaccinated and tested of Covid-19 and that they must be able to observe social distance. All that should be done within the limits of the current regulations in terms of numbers of people who are allowed to congregate,” Cde Bimha said.

The National People’s conference will be held from the 25 October to the 31 October 2021.
