ZANU PF has begun a journey on total revitalization of the nation’s agricultural recovery through a follow-up on the progress of the recently introduced Pfumvudza agricultural concept which is expected to boost and promote self-sufficiency amongst Zimbabweans.
Pfumvudza is an agricultural concept that entails utilization of conservative methods towards the agricultural recovery plan which is a brain child of the Revolutionary Party as espoused in the 2018 winning People’s Manifesto.
In line with the Revolutionary Party’s vision within the Agricultural sector as one of the pillars of the Transitional Stabilisation Programme (TSP), the logic behind Pfumvudza is to promote self-sufficiency in families as the vision is to see every household being able to provide for themselves.
The Revolutionary Party’s high powered delegation comprised of Politburo and Central Committee members today visited Goromonzi District to access progress on the implementation of the Pfumvudza scheme
Under the Pfumvudza concept, communal farmers will now be required to apply conservation agriculture, a concept also known as Pfumvudza for them to benefit under the Presidential Inputs Scheme as Government moves in to boost agriculture productivity and ensure food self-sufficiency and surplus.
Guest of honour at the event ZANU PF Secretary for Women Affairs Senator Mabel Chinomona said women should take a leading role in this initiative and be vigilant in working towards the resuscitation of food security.
“The Pfumvudza initiative will go a long way in ensuring that households are self-sufficient at the same time being able to deliver the surplus maize to GMB while utilizing crops like sunflower and beans to ensure that cooking oil is available. Women should take a leading role in this initiative and be proactive,” said Senator Chinomona.
Senator Chinomona also expressed gratitude to President E.D Mnangagwa for availing agricultural inputs that will promote this initiative especially to the disadvantaged through the Presidential Input scheme.
She added that the initiative can become a success through hard work and implored everyone to take a leaf from President Mnangagwa on productivity.
The programme has also witnessed the parent Ministry of Lands and Agriculture deploying 900 AREX officers in full swing to assist farmers to execute their duties properly.
Also speaking on the same occasion, ZANU PF Acting Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Tendai Chirau reiterated that it is the Party’s position to ride on the “Production upon Production” mantra
Cde Chirau also appreciated that the Pfumvudza initiative saying it is compatible to farmers at all levels to utilize each piece of land towards high agricultural returns.
ZANU PF Secretary for Production and labour Cde Josiah Hungwe urged communal famers to take heed the call
Under the programme 1, 6 million households are expected to contribute 1, 6 million tonnes of maize towards strengthening the Strategic Grain Reserve (SGR) while 800 000 households are expected to produce between 90 000 and 100 000 tonnes of soya.
