ZANU PF Secretary General Cde Obert Mpofu says the ruling Party has nothing to do with CCC's Interim SG Sengezo Tshabangu.
Tshabangu has been in the limelight for the CCC recalls, which have seen that opposition party in disarray.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Lupane East Constituency by-election campaign at St Paul's Mission Ward 16 Matabeleland North Province this Tuesday, Cde Mpofu highlighted yesterday the ruling Party is on the ground to ensure its victory in the December 9 elections.
"ZANU PF has nothing to do with what is going on in the CCC. I don't even know Sengezo myself. I have never seen him. I have only seen him on pictures and on videos. I really take all that allege that we have something to do with CCC as a joke," Cde Mpofu said.
"This Constituency, like all our constituencies, is very important to us because we have been running the Constituency for the past years but have lost it. That is why President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa dispatched a team of senior people to talk to the people to understand why things have happened this way. As you may have noticed, people regret what happened. We are convinced we are going to correct the situation because people got misled somehow."
The Secretary General added that he had "appealed to even the leadership on the ground to be pro-people and not anti-people. There are a lot of grievances that the people are raising as a result of some of our leaders on the ground, and this is normal where people put themselves first as opposed to putting the Party forward."
Cde Phathisiwe Machangu will represent ZANU PF Lupane East Constituency in the by-elections slated for the 9th of December 2023.
