ZANU PF & GVT working well ….on course to implement Conference resolutions and Manifesto
25 February 2020ZANU PF and Government are working together in a systematic manner to ensure that resolutions adopted at the 18th People’s Conference held in Goromonzi are implemented. In an interview, the ZANU PF Secretary for Administration Cde Obert Mpofu said, while the resolutions were important, the 2018 ZANU PF People’s Manifesto remained the guiding document for the Government.“Our operations as a Party are guided by strong principles which are derived from the people. Every year we have our people’s Conference where discussions relating to the welfare of our people and country are discussed and passed. After that we take them to Government for implementation that is in the short term but in the long term we have a Party Manifesto which guides the Party and gives our colleagues in Government a roadmap on what to do”.Cde Mpofu said as part of its supervisory role and to underscore the supremacy of Party over Government, the Party was continuously engaging with ministers to appreciate operations of their departments.“We have of late as part of our supervisory role as the governing Party interacted with Government institutions at both technical and political level and we share our perspectives. We don’t direct Government on what to do but we remind our assignees on which areas people are keen on.For instance right now people are concerned about high prices of commodities and shortages so we want to get an understanding on what is been done on behalf of the people. So this is basically what the President is talking about that the Party is supreme over Government”.He said the President had deployed on a fulltime basis senior cadres at ZANU PF Headquarters to ensure that the Party manifesto and resolutions are fully implemented.“The President has set up a full time system for senior people in the PartyThis was to ensure that Government implements what the Party directs. The President as First Secretary of the Party chairs the Politburo and equally as chair of cabinet, it is easier for him to supervise implementation of our policies”.
