The Secretary General for ZANU PF Cde Obert Mpofu says the ruling Party exists to win elections.
He said these remarks during the Policy and Coordinating meeting at the Party headquarters this Monday.
"ZANU PF as a political party exists to win elections. It is our primary purpose. I therefore urge comrades to continue the hard work they have been doing to ensure that we attain as many seats as possible," Cde Mpofu said.
"This past week has been both interesting and eventful. There is news that the leader of the CCC, one Nelson Chamisa has resigned from his own party. There are further rumors that some of Chamisa's loyalists have also begun resigning from Parliament. This is likely to trigger another wave of by-elections. We however wait to see the outcome and full implications of Chamisa's decision and we will be following the situation closely."
Also commenting on the issue, ZANU PF Spokesperson Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa said CCC has lost its steam having rode on the ZCTU which was a creation of ZANU PF.
"It is time for Chamisa to know that his game is up. They have run out of steam and have lost the way to go especially with a man who was a 100 metre runner. They have thrown in the towel."
Deputy Secretary for Security Cde Tendai Chirau noted that while the so-called CCC regroups, "it is important that ZANU PF prepares for 2028."
