FOLLOWING a clean sweep in the 2023 elections, the revolutionary party ZANU PF is confident for another white wash victory in the six pending constituencies by elections, with party candidates already implementing people oriented projects and programs being ahead of the February 3 elections.
In Zvimba East, Cde Kudakwashe Decide Manhanzva, and youth league national member, recently won the primary election will battle it out with former CCC MP, now standing in as an independent candidate Oliver Mutasa, following recalls by interim CCC secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu.
In an interview, Cde Manhazva said he was going to emerge victorious as ZANU PF is the only people-centered party among those contesting.
“People always want a political party which is people-oriented and it is only our party, ZANU PF which has those qualities. Zvimba East has always been our stronghold and that will not change, people have been given another chance to correct what happened last year.
“I am very optimistic that I am going to be the next MP for this constituency and I promise members that I will not fail them in doing my duties,” said Cde Manhazva.
“As a barometer, we had a campaign rally over the weekend which attracted a bumper crowd. This obviously sent shock waves to other contestants, especially from CCC and the Independent candidate.
“In actual fact, there is no room for opposition politics in Zvimba East and the whole province of Mashonaland West,” he said.
In Chegutu West Constituency, ZANU PF candidate Cde Shakemore Wellington Timburwa, who will battle it out with two other candidates, thus former CCC MP Admore Chivero and Gift Konjana formerly MDC-T, now CCC candidate for the February 3 by elections.
Cde Timburwa, a youthful ZANU PF candidate highlights that it is a foregone conclusion that the party would retain the Zaka East seat as it is a formidable political force.
“Holding the by-election is just a formality as the result will be obvious. No party will stand against ZANU PF and that is the reason why you see the party winning seats, originally held by the opposition,” said Cde Timburwa.
“We are sure that we will give CCC and other contesting parties a drubbing, come February 3. That is our seat and we are going to retain it without any problem.” he added.
The two candidates have been embarking on various projects for the women, youths across the constitucies, with most of the projects being long time projects.
