ZANU PF National Chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has challenged musicians to sing songs that give people hope and a future.   The remarks were made during a ceremony to unveil a COVID19 song and handover donations   Speaking during the ceremony, National Chairperson Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said there is need for the musicians to speak and challenge social ills in the society.   “During the war, we sang songs which we sung “We have had heroes of your time such as the late national hero Oliver Mtukudzi.  You are therefore special to us. Your songs show us the problems in our society. You sing of the family values and the economy. Today you have sung about COVID19 which is a difficult time and are educating people on how to prevent the disease I challenge you to sing about other things as well such as the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe and corruption. We must start somewhere and now.”   National Political Commissar Cde Victor Matemadanda said the gesture “We want to thank the musicians who thought of coming up with this song seeing that their country is under threat. This shows a sense of belonging to their country and their will to defend it. This shows that you are truly Zimbabwean.”   Also speaking at the ceremony, Muduvuri Rehabilitation and Empowerment Foundation founder Cde Jimayi Muduvuri   “The challenge of the musicians at the moment is that while some industries are open, they are not employed. They have families which they must take care of and there is need to harness their talent. They are available for engagement and have shown their love for their country.”   Musicians Nicholas Zachariah, Mechanic Manyeruke, Sulumani Chimbetu took time to thank the leadership for taking time out to meet them and to listen to their grievances among them lack of housing among many things. The musicians received food hampers which included some basic commodities.
