KADOMA’s Rimuka Stadium is set to be a hive of activity this Wednesday when thousands of youths converge to interact with President Emmerson Mnanagwa.The meeting is expected to take stock of strides made in empowering youths who constitute the bulk of the population and how they can be mainstreamed into economic activities.The Party’s 2018 People’s Manifesto committed to promoting youth participation in economic activities through creating an enabling environment.Speaking ahead of the Indaba with President Mnangagwa, ZANU PF Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Lewis Matutu, said presentations will be made by youths participating in various sectors of the economy.He said the rally was a marked departure from the G40 youth rallies of the previous dispensation that maligned and divided the party.“This is an opportunity for the youth to come and interact with the President, as Youths we want to come with a clear vision of what we want in 2020.We expect youths from various sectors of the economy to come and make their presentations. Young people are at the center stage of everything hence we need a clear understanding of their role in 2020 and beyond.As the leadership of the Youth League we just don’t hold rallies like the last group used to do. We will never use the party platform to denigrate individuals but we will be guided by the national vision”. Said cde MatutuTurning to the 2020 National Budget presented by Finance and Economic Development Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube, Cde Matutu said the budget statement was prepared with young people at heart.He said the budget contained a number of positive measures that will improve the livelihoods of youths.“I’m very happy with the National Budget, if you go through the statement, youth and young people are at the core of the presentation. The budget spoke to issues of the youth and I want to thank the Finance Minister for that”.Among some of the issues, Cde Matutu said were positive include the creation of ZWL$500M fund to support entrepreneurship, giving incentives to organisations that employ youths for a year and provision of ZWL$2m for the procurement of sanitary wear.Additionally, Cde Matutu said the envisaged setting up of Youth Focal desks in all ministries will greatly boost participation of young people in the economy.The Party’s 2018 People’s Manifesto committed to promoting youth and economic participation through creating an enabling environment.
